A TSB provides special procedures for spark plug removal on these engines. Trying to remove spark plugs from Ford's 3-valve 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L 2004-2008 engines can cause part of the plug to break off and get stuck in the cylinder head. The long service interval is actually one of the reasons the plugs break apart.
1) spark plugs. 2) ht leads. 3) coil pack. 4) tps. 5) maf. 6) fuel filter. there are no codes stored.. not even any pending ones. yet my engine still pings under load.. and to top it off.. i only get about 160 miles on a full tank of petrol!!
Engine: 7.3L. Issue: Some 2020 F-53 Motorhome Chassis vehicles equipped with a 7.3L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with a misfire or lack of power with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0300, P0316, and/or P0301-P0304 built on or before 28-Sep-2020. This may be due to damaged spark plug wire(s).
The only way you can screw up is by using the ratchet to start the threads. Always start the spark plugs by hand- even if, like on our vehicles, you have to use a 3/8 extension to reach inside the spark plug tubes. You'll need at least a 10" extension, or a 6" and 3" together. A 5/8 spark plug socket, a ratchet, a tube of anti-seize, and some rags.
Old plugs were not old..a few months. Tried in two cars now and both showed improvements. So try Denso iridium TT Spark Plugs IK16TT. These fit the duratec 1.6 and I left factory gapped. Cost a few bob (try the green spark plug company) but given the slight mpg increase I guess over the year they pay for themselves.
Several things could cause crank but no start. In my experience the most likely causes would be: 1) Clogged fuel filter. 2) Bad fuel pump relay. 3) Bad fuel pump. 4) Bad control module. Replace fuel filter first since it needs to be replaced every so often anyways. If still won't start.
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer as to how tight spark plugs should be. Many professional mechanics with years of experience can snug down a set of spark plugs based primarily on feel. However, if you’re new to spark plug replacement, you’ll want to be careful, as plugs that are either too loose or too tight can cause problems.

You then drill out the hole with the proper bit if necessary, then use the tap to cut a new thread and thread the insert into the hole and then your spark plug.
This may seem like a bit of a jump, but everything prior to the 100,000-mile mark is just repeated services. However, this mileage adds some crucial services to the list. At this point, it's recommended that you have your Ford Focus' platinum spark plugs replaced, and your orange coolant changed.
